Is black obsidian the same as black tourmaline?
No. Obsidian is volcanic glass (amorphous silica); tourmaline is a crystalline mineral. Both are dark and protective, but obsidian works by reflection — it shows you what needs to be seen — while tourmaline works by deflection. If your Water element is weak, obsidian is the more targeted choice.
Why does it feel cold to the touch?
