Why This One
A weak Earth element does not feel like hunger. It feels like sand — things slip through your fingers before you can hold them. Money comes in and flows out. Opportunities arrive and dissolve. You are not lacking resources. You are lacking the ground that holds them. Citrine is quartz colored by iron — golden yellow, the color of harvest, of grain stored for winter. In Five Element theory, yellow is Earth, the element of accumulation. Not of grabbing, not of chasing — of receiving and keeping. When your Earth element runs low, this is the stone that says: you are allowed to hold what you earn. Wear it when you are building something meant to last. A business. A savings account. A home. Citrine will not bring you wealth. It will help you stop treating wealth like it is temporary.
Design
8mm natural citrine beads with a faceted cut. Origin: Brazil (natural quartz, color is natural — not heat-treated amethyst, which is the most common citrine substitute on the market). Genuine citrine is pale gold to amber. If you see "citrine" that is deep orange or brownish-red, it is almost certainly heat-treated amethyst. Our citrine is the real thing — naturally golden, naturally pale, naturally beautiful. Faceted cut for light play. Strung on durable elastic cord. Arrives in a drawstring pouch with a five-element information card.
FAQ
How can I tell if citrine is real or heat-treated amethyst?
Natural citrine is pale gold to light amber. Heat-treated amethyst (sold as citrine) is typically deep orange, reddish-brown, or "smoky." If the color looks too dark or too saturated, it is likely treated. Our citrine is genuine natural citrine — pale, warm, and translucent.
Why is it called the "merchant's stone"?
Since the Renaissance, citrine has been associated with prosperity and was kept in cash boxes by merchants. The golden color evokes gold and grain — symbols of stored wealth. Whether or not you believe in crystal energy, carrying a reminder of abundance tends to shift behavior toward abundance.
Is this the same as yellow topaz?
No. Citrine is quartz (silicon dioxide); topaz is a different mineral entirely. They look similar in color but have different hardness, different crystal structures, and very different prices. Citrine is more affordable and more durable for daily wear.
